The start was delayed when Saziwayo forced its gate open and had to be re-loaded. Highland Jet jumped awkwardly and was slightly slow out. Salvador Dali was slow to begin. Highland Jet raced wide in the early stages and leaving the 1100 metres was taken back to secure the position one off the rails behind Baynesfield. Salvador Dali raced wide from leaving the 450 metres. Leaving the 400 metres Saziwayo was taken out from behind Baynesfield to close off the race and carried Salvador Dali wider on the track. Near the 300 metres Highland Jet was held up for a short distance when unable to improve from behind Day Of Reckoning and was taken out from behind Day Of Reckoning passing the 300 metres to continue going forward. Leaving the 200 metres Baynesfield had a tendency to shift in, resulting in jockey Chisty shifting his whip to his right hand. Trainer Allet was questioned with regard to the improved performance of Bourne Supreme. He explained that after having done well in the early part of the season, this gelding lost its form during the winter, however it started to work well at track work since a couple of weeks and a better run was expected from it today. He added that the fact that it was racing in a lower category and that it was able to take the lead easily had perhaps contributed to its good performance today. His explanations were noted.

Dominion Legacy and Pegasus Legacy jumped awkwardly. Burberry and Match Play were slow out. Hail Atlantis threw its head at the start. Shutterfly raced wide in the early stages and leaving the 1200 metres was urged forward to secure the lead. Legion Of Honour raced wide in the early and middle stages and leaving the 1000 metres was allowed to improve and race on the outside of the leader. Pegasus Legacy raced wide from the 300 metres. Leaving the 300 metres Joe’s Legacy was held up when unable to improve from behind Shutterfly and was inconvenienced and, leaving the 250 metres, was taken in to continue going forward. Approaching the 100 metres Dominion Legacy was taken out from behind Joe’s Legacy to secure clear running. Pegasus Legacy lay in over the concluding stages of the race.

Sideliner was slow out. Fearless Thomas jumped awkwardly, rolled out and shortly after brushed Final Frontier. Shortly after the start Mc Naught rolled in. My Best Friend raced wide throughout. From leaving the 1000 metres Mc Naught had a tendency to over-race and when being taken back got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance. Sideliner raced wide from the 450 metres. Approaching the 400 metres Mc Naught was taken out from behind Waterside Jet to close off the race and in doing so carried Ivory Snow wider on the track. Ivory Snow had a tendency to lay in in the home straight. Leaving the 200 metres Ivory Snow rolled in under pressure, resulting in Mc Naught on its inside shying away from it and rolling in, at the same time Waterside Jet rolled out slightly under pressure, brushing Mc Naught.

Casey’s War jumped awkwardly and rolled out, brushing Naughty Prince. Foxtrot Oscar and National Manner were slow out. Leaving the 1100 metres Bolting Cat rolled out slightly and had to be taken back in towards the rails. Leaving the 300 metres Bastille Day was taken out from behind Casey’s War to close off the race and in doing so, carried Foxtrot Oscar wider on the track. Sergeant Major had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.

Solar Symbol was slow into stride. National Play and Uly jumped awkwardly and were slow out. National Play raced wide in the early stages. Captain’s Cheer raced wide from leaving the 450 metres. Leaving the 400 metres Divine Crusader was taken out from behind National Play to close off the race and in doing so carried Captain’s Cheer wider on the track. Leaving the 200 metres National Play rolled in under pressure, crowding Uly on its inside, with the latter becoming inconvenienced and having to be eased. Jockey Peslier, the rider of National Play, was shown the video of the incident, cautioned and told to straighten his mounts when they shift ground. When questioned with regard to the poor performance of Solar Symbol, jockey Dettori explained that after being sluggish at the start, this gelding did not feel comfortable in the early stages of the race. As such, he settled it at the back of the field instead of insisting to race closer to the lead and the further the race went the shorter its action became, he then pulled it out of the race being of the opinion that there must be something wrong with it. A subsequent veterinary examination of Solar Symbol revealed no apparent abnormality.

Al’s Deputy jumped awkwardly and rolled out, bumping La Foce onto Legal Maxim. Royal Chalon stumbled on jumping. Profit Report was slow out, losing many lengths. Leaving the 1500 metres Royal Chalon and La Foce raced tight. Leaving the 1365 metres Royal Chalon improved on the outside of La Foce and approaching the 1300 metres Royal Chalon rolled in slightly, with La Foce becoming inconvenienced and having to be steadied. La Foce then rolled in, brushing Al’s Deputy. Jockey Burke, the rider of Royal Chalon, was shown the video of the incident, cautioned and told to make sure he is clear of horses before shifting ground in future. Not Liable raced wide in the early stages. Approaching the 600 metres La Foce rolled in, brushing the running rails. Leaving the 300 metres Al’s Deputy was taken out from behind Not Liable to continue going forward and raced wide from then onwards. From leaving the 200 metres Not Liable had a tendency to hang in. Royal Chalon, which was following, had to be taken out from its heels to continue going forward but at the same time Al’s Deputy rolled in under pressure with Royal Chalon and Al’s Deputy coming together. Al’s Deputy then rolled out and became inconvenienced when close to the heels of Honour In Gold, which was improving on its outside, and had a tendency to lay in. Royal Chalon was not persevered with for the remainder of the race. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Profit Report was not striding out properly after the race.

Vin d’Honneur was slow to begin. So Raven jumped awkwardly and rolled out, bumping Wincourt which then rolled onto Sniper, inconveniencing the latter. Frusk jumped awkwardly and rolled out, bumping Anti-Freeze, Frusk then rolled back in, brushing Sky Link. Sniper and Anti-Freeze raced wide in the early stages. Wincourt raced wide from leaving the 400 metres. From near the 150 metres Sniper lay in under pressure, resulting in Sky Link becoming slightly inconvenienced when close to the heels of Sniper leaving the 100 metres. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that Sniper was trotting sound after the race, however it had traces of blood in one nostril, resulting from a head concussion

Wild ‘N Free jumped awkwardly and rolled out bumping Liberty Eagle. Liberty Eagle stumbled on jumping. Diamond Light and Hugo The Boss came together shortly after the start. Camden’s Choice was slow out. Beach Club and Double Dash raced wide in the early stages. Diamond Light raced wide from the 450 metres. Passing the 300 metres Diamond Light, when improving around Beach Club, lay in, crowding Beach Club with Beach Club having to be checked. Jockey Joorawon was reprimanded under MTC Rule 160 A (e) and told that he should straighten his mounts when they shift ground. Approaching the 300 metres Hugo The Boss clipped the heels of Double Dash and stumbled badly. Leaving the 200 metres Beach Club started to lay in under pressure and brushed Hugo The Boss, which was being taken out from behind Mr Wolf to secure clear running. Liberty Eagle lost its near hind shoe in running.
